Many geologists believe during the Miocene period ten to twenty million years ago, there was a giant geologic upheaval which pushed the Edwards Plateau about two thousand feet above the Texas Hill Country, and this gigantic fault formed the Balcones Escarpment. This ranch lies along the northern edge of the Balcones Escarpment where the land begins to break off into the Hill Country. This area is well known for good hunting for a variety of game animals.
