HISTORY OF THE RANCH: Back to Top

The Weldon Family Ranch has been owned and operated as a livestock and family hunting ranch by the Weldon family for several generations. There is a livestock grazing lease in effect which can be terminated with a forty five day notice. The ranch is divided into four pastures. The boundary fences are in average to good condition. The interior fences are in poor condition. The boundary fences are in good enough condition to hold sheep, goats and cattle. The ranch lies along both sides of CR 310. The ranch is located in quiet and peaceful setting with miles of ATV and hunting roads for the entire family to enjoy.

There is a shared water well with a neighbor at the headquarters. The well is equipped with a submersible pump and a large storage tank. Water is distributed by water troughs and pond by pipe line.

A cabin provides accommodations for sleeping, bathroom, kitchen, dining room and fire pit in the yard. The original livestock corrals at the headquarters include shearing pen, two barns, water well, tank and water troughs.

The landscape is low rolling hills covered with live oak, elm and walnut trees. There are wide open areas with persimmon, agarata, shin oak brush, mountain laurel and cedar trees. Scenic limestone bluffs are visible along the winding draw which transverses through the ranch.

This area of Edwards County is well known for a variety of wild game animals. Whitetail deer, turkey, exotics an occasional elk and small varmints are the primary game animals that roam around the Weldon Ranch. There are numerous feed pens and deer blinds located in good hunting spots.

Telephone service is furnished by Southwest Texas Telephone Company. Electric Service is provided by Pedernales Electric Cooperative.
